EU online spending estimated to grow 16 percent, reach €232 billion in 2012

Forgive us as we act surprised Americans, but it turns out we have other things in it with our brothers in euros, U.S. hate shopping in stores. According to estimates by Kelkoo, the online shopping in the European Union is expected to continue the upward trend, which is said to reach about $ 232 billion by the end of the year.

In estimating the control will increase by 16 percent from $ 200 billion obtained through e-tailers in 2011, and, of course, is detrimental to traditional brick and mortar clothing, growth is expected to increase only 1.8 percent.

The collected data also show that there is still much room for expansion, however, online shopping accounts for 7.8 percent of total U.S. retail sales in 2011, Britain, Germany and France are responsible for a whopping 71 percent of that calculation. The projected growth of 16 percent declined slightly from 2011, which saw the U.S. online shopping rose 18 percent – despite the European tendency to click and ship, continued to outpace the U.S., grew only 12.8 percent in 2011.
